Pattaya had a secret which is now out; it is the quality, choice and value of the golf to be found around the City. These championship standard courses are designed by the very best golf architects and designers—Nicklaus, Faldo, Peter Thompson, Player, Trent Jones Junior and a host of other favorites. Clubhouse facilities are excellent with everything you might need and more including swimming pools, massage facilities, great restaurants and superb shower and locker rooms.
Nearly all courses in Thailand provide caddies, frankly caddies can help make your golfing experience - treat them well and they will have fun, so will you. We always advise our golfers to make use of the buggies (especially in the midday sun) on a few of the more select courses they are mandatory.
Quite simply, golfing in Pattaya is as good as it gets at a fraction of the cost with each course offering a fantastic experience for golfers of all abilities (with no course requiring a handicap card). So, whether you are a low handicap golfer who enjoys a challenge or a complete novice there is no better place to play than the courses of Pattaya.

Bangpra
Bangpra Golf Club and Resort Hotel (1958)
Designer: Japan Golf Promotion
Course: 18 Holes 7209 yards Par 72
This is the second oldest 18 hole golf course in Thailand, also one of the best.
Mature trees line the fairways and you are greeted by very fast greens, often sloping, so putting is a challenge. Course recently upgraded as it was suffering from maintenance troubles but the layout is traditional and wonderful, the monkeys love it and may well take your ball away for examination. This course is a nice change from the newer and more heavily promoted Pattaya golf courses and is a good choice for Pattaya bound golfers who prefer well established golf courses over modern man made links.
Facilities include Large Clubhouse with Pro Shop, Restaurant with Thai and International favourites.
Burapha
Burapha Golf Club (1995)
Designer: David Graham and Gary Panks
Course: 36 holes Par 72
The two quite distinctive golf courses each have a character all of their own-though both feature the best in golf course management and care of manicured multi-tiered greens, undulating fairways and white sand bunkers. The 36-hole layout takes full advantage of the natural beauty of the hillsides, valleys, lakes, mature mango trees, coconut palms and thickets of tropical vegetation. A great course to play for the high or low handicapper. Golf carts compulsory.
This is a professionally run course with many facilities offered and has been the venue for many Thai and Asian tour events. It is situated across the road from Laemchabang.
Crystal Bay
Crystal Bay Country Club (1988)
Designer: Thai Takenaka
Course: 27 Hole Par 72 A.3526yds B.3483yds C.3480yds
Not the most difficult—why should it be difficult? Pretty, flat and typical of a Thai course using plenty of water and fairways lined with palms. A good course to start your golf experience in Pattaya as you might just flatter yourself!
Usually one of the best manicured and kept course in the area with 27 holes of wide fairways, fast greens and picturesque lakes and beautiful flowers, water fringes the course on all sides and with gently undulating fairways the course is complete in every way. The experienced caddies will be sure to make your great day out an unforgettable one.
Eastern Star
Eastern Star Country Club & Resort (1991)
Designer: Robert Trent Jones Jr.
Course: 18 Holes 7134 yards Par 72
The eighteen holes are beautifully carved out of a coconut palm plantation, and gently wind through the lovely residential areas of Eastern Star Resort. The gently undulating fairways and greens feature 65 bunkers, 11 lakes and more than 2000 coconut palm trees. Many call this a ‘links’ course, no, not in the tropics, but yes, perhaps the overall layout might look a bit like a links course. Some very good and none too easy holes the 13th. is a par 3 over water and with little to aim at except the flag, also very picturesque. The water hazards have to be treated with respect as the ball can find a bounce that makes you wish you had played a little further away from it.
Facilities include a luxurious clubhouse, lounge bar with Thai and International Restaurant, swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness centre, driving range and Conference centre.
St Andrews
St. Andrews Hill (2000)
Designer: Desmond Muirhead
Course: 18 Holes 7,777 yards Par 74
Without doubt, this is difficult for the average golfer of whom we are many. Considered a bit of a monster with 2 par 6 holes of over 800 yards and many water carries. A visually stunning layout where each hole presents a new challenge, careful course management is necessary to do well. Is this the most difficult course in Thailand? Perhaps why it is popular for the better golfer to try. Golf Carts Compulsory.
Facilities include a large clubhouse with German, Korean, Thai and Japanese Restaurants, swimming pool, tennis courts, massage, spa, sauna and driving range.
Green Valley
Green Valley Country Club (1993)
Designer: Peter Thomson & Michael Wolveridge
Course: 18 Holes Par 72
This course is set on a gently rolling landscape skillfully crafted into the natural terrain of rocky crops and giant boulders, water courses flow from the adjacent hills and meander through the course, colourful flora is abundant. Most of the greens are raised causing golfers a few headaches with the approach shots, but the surfaces are excellent to putt. This course will be sure to entertain both high and low handicappers. A pleasure to play anytime of the year.
Facilities include a large clubhouse incorporating Korean, Japanese, German and Thai restaurants, swimming pool, massage room, pro shop and driving range. A new 80 room Hotel is now open.
Khao Kheow
Khao Kheow Country Club
Designer: Pete Dye
Course: 27 holes Par 72
Among the best courses in Thailand (personal opinion) 27 holes of wonderful golfing delight with each hole presenting a new, picturesque challenge. Elevation changes from tee to green that allow you the golfer to plot your way around as you can see where you are meant to go. Many Pete Dye (family design) features, with the railway sleepers and well placed bunkers, not to mention water and the 17th. on ‘C’ course offering the island green. Lovely clubhouse facilities with the Restaurant overlooking the golf course offering Thai and International dishes.
Laem Chabang
Laem Chabang International Country Club
Designer: Jack Nicklaus
Course: 27 holes Par 72
This world class 27 hole golf course is set on 700 acres of natural hilly terrain. Everyone enjoys the feeling of being close to nature at this lush exotic course designed by famed golfer Jack Nicklaus. This perfectly manicured golf course will never disappoint and will provide you with plenty of challenging shots on any of its Mountain, Valley or Lake loops. Anyone coming to play golf around Pattaya play here.
The 3 nine holes are distinct; the Mountain 9 is 3,446 yards in length and plays around many hills. The opening hole on the Mountain-nine requires you to squeeze the ball through a lush "canyon" of vegetation, but there’s more space out there than you at first think. The second, a wonderfully water-fronted downhill par-3, is just about as good as short holes get. From there on, you will be challenged by the course’s natural undulations, occasional water hazards and excellent sprawling bunkers that protect the front and sides of many nicely elevated greens.
The Lake 9 is 3,419 yards in length with a stream meandering through most all the holes. The Valley 9 plays the longest at 3,619 yards, and is shaped in the foothills of the surrounding mountains. Although the presence of water is not overwhelming (apart perhaps from on the opening four holes of the more technical Valley-nine), but when there is water you notice it.
Facilities include Clubhouse with Thai and International menu, swimming pool, Golf Lodge, Jacuzzi, foot massage and full Banquet and Convention facilities. Golf Carts Compulsory.
Greenwood
Greenwood Golf Club (1993) (Noble Place)
Designer: Wolveridge & Thomson
Course: 27 Hole Par 72 7015 yds
Designed by Peter Thomson, 5 times British Open champion, and Michael Wolverine, the ex-Noble Place is a thinking man’s, British style, course with many unique features. Very much a favorite with the local players offering cheap golf on an exceptionally well laid out course.
Dotted with characteristic pot bunkers and areas of ’native’ lemon grass which require particular skills to escape from first time, there is also many strategically placed sand traps, but not a lot of water hazards. The 3 nine holes present a challenging layout requiring ingenuity, careful club selection and precision driving. Lots of fairway undulations gives a links feel to this hilly parkland setting. Each shot must be carefully anticipated as numerous pot bunkers await any errant shots.
The full service clubhouse overlooks courses A and B. After your round, you can enjoy have a cold beer on the large balcony and watch the sun set over the rolling Chonburi hills.
Mountain Shadow Golf Club
Mountain Shadow Golf Club (1993)
Designer : Ronald Fream
Course: 18 Hole Par 72 6722yds
Designed within a Mango plantation this course is always perfectly manicured and very well presented. Although one of the shorter courses in the region, plenty of water and some very narrow fairways make a challenging day out for any handicapper. Lots of holes framed by palm trees make this a real tropical paradise. 17 very good holes with 2 par 5’s protected by water carries and the 17th par 3 having two greens and if you are playing the green of the day to the right you might be at Augusta, however, I’ve never understood the 16th it’s almost as if the course was designed for 17 holes, naturally never played it well either—short par 4 with a dogleg and nowhere to go.
Facilities include a large Clubhouse with Restaurant serving Thai and Western food , Pro Shop, Driving Range and full shower and locker rooms.
Phoenix
Phoenix Golf and Country Club (1993)
Designer: Dennis Griffith
Course: 27 holes Par 72
Once you have navigated around the enormous clubhouse, this ‘resort’ course is the ideal place to start your golf holiday. Wide fairways, flat greens and interesting enough to play all your shots. The Ocean course and the last hole, a par 5 with outstanding views of the bay and the city is the favorite, and a good hole at that. Caddies here are good and do look after you well. It should be noted that the ladies tees can be very, very short, therefore, don’t play match play against them---4 ball better ball?
Facilities include Large Clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis courts, golf driving range and full seminar, convention and banqueting service.
Siam C.C.
Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course (2007)
Designer: Isao Mazumi—renovation by Lee Schmidt
Course: 18 Hole Par 72 7162yds
This golf course has just re-opened after a total renovation from tee to green and clubhouse. It now brings Siam to a truly international Championship standard having hosted the Honda LPGA Tour event in October 2007. The idyllic, rural setting embroidered by arching trees and adorned with lush, mature landscaping makes this a must play course while in Pattaya. Hit straight and you will miss the overhanging trees, the greens are fast with subtle breaks—there are good caddies to be had here—you might need one!
Single Golf Carts Compulsory.
Facilities include a Large New Clubhouse overlooking the 18th green serving Thai and international Cuisine, Pro Shop, Driving Range and full locker and shower rooms.
Pattana Golf and Sports Resort
Opened: 2004
Designer: Gussan
This highly modern and luxurious resort offers 27 holes that have been skillfully crafted upon 360 acres of beautiful, natural rolling terrain, providing an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities. Whilst fairways are generous in width, large and contoured lightening fast Tifdwarf greens demand a strategic approach and a skillful touch. Offers island greens and a par 6 as signature holes. As with the nearby Khao Kheow this course can be made harder by the advent of the afternoon trade winds.
Facilities include a 9000sq.m clubhouse incorporating international restaurants, Spa, offering massage and body treatments, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms.
Siam Country Club Plantation course
Siam Country Club Plantation Course (March 2008)
Designer: Lee Schmidt
This 27-hole layout is routed through rolling terrain, with distant panoramic views of world renowned Pattaya Beach and the Gulf of Thailand. Formerly a tapioca and pineapple plantation, the designer has had a field day; literally, with many elevation changes the course features one difficult hole after another. Long carries, blind shots, elevated greens, undulating fairways and greens, giant high-lipped bunkers, and most of all shaved fringes on every hole are in play to challenge even the professional golfer. The distance is a long 7404 and 7495 yards, which makes the Siam Country Club Plantation Course the longest Pattaya golf course and one of the longest golf courses in Thailand.
Two nines, the par-36, 3,759-yard Tapioca and par-36, 3,645-yard Pineapple, feature Asia’s first triple green. The Tapioca’s seventh hole and the Pineapple’s fourth and ninth holes play to a single green measuring more than 20,000 square feet (1,916 square meters) and is a unique focal point on this Pattaya golf course The green’s meandering putting surface is contiguous and is divided into three distinct sections by large swales. Number seven on the Tapioca is a par-3 of 178 yards, while numbers four and nine on the Pineapple are lengthy par-4s of 490 and 469 yards, respectively. A modern and stylish clubhouse with luxurious comfort and beauty sits high on the golf course over looking the triple greens. Tantalizing Thai and Western food make this a truly first class Resort.
The continuous breezes from the ocean keep the course cool even on the hottest days.
Pleasant Valley
New course that has recently opened 9 holes, to very good reports, more news to come from this course later in the season 2009/2010
Soi Dao Highlands
This place is a secret; it is an absolutely wonderful location close to the border of Cambodia, amongst jungle and mountains. Did I say a great course—well it is.
This course is featured in our away trips from Pattaya
Wangjuntr Golf & Nature Park
36 holes, par 72 (7173/7641 yards)
18 fairways 36 holes, apparently a fun if difficult layout—one of the few courses I have not played, so I look forward to reporting one day
This course is featured in our away trips from Pattaya.
